I promise, I did not forget about doing my Year in Review - NK's 2009 posts!
Next up is Jones Beach, and it's going to be a bit of a long one (that's what he said!).
There is a bit of story attached to that one, being the first time I met a New Kid in the flesh...
So, be patient...I know y'all are clamoring...(read: snoring)

Sunday Thoughts
Happy Sunday everyone!
I woke up at around 11:30 and promptly tuned into the reBODcast of the Backrub....YEOW!
Now that's what I call a way to wake up! (Even if I was listening on my father's computer with earphones while he vacuumed around me...HA!)
It's sunny and COLD out today, 18 degrees currently.
I think I'm going to head to town and go to Salsa for their brunch, one of my favorite things to do on a Sunday! They make a dish called "Heavenly Homefries" that is just delicious! Spicy new potatoes and chorizo sausage with two fried eggs laid on top. They cover that with your choice of green or red chili sauce (I like the green), lettuce, tomato, sour cream and salsa. You also get a warm tortilla to scoop up all that goodness with! YUM!
I usually go by myself. I know to a lot of people that seems weird, but I've been doing it for years. I bring a book, that's all I need to amuse me.
The people at the restuarant know me by name, I've been going there for probably close to 15 years now. It's a tiny little place with maybe 12 tables.
I've even written to Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives about them. They're definitely a local treasure!
Everything is homemade and SO FRESH! They have a honey-lemon-poppyseed salad dressing that is TO DIE FOR! Yum!
Great, now I've made myself salivate!
Let's see...plans for the rest of the day...honestly I don't have any.
I suppose I could pack.
I'm heading back up to Boston on Thursday to see Joey McIntyre do a solo show. Oh, and I get to hang with my Sisters!!!
Liz is taking the train from Long Island up to me, I'll pick her up and chaeufer her to Boston. ;P
We're meeting Manda and Carla (at long last!) there.
The show will be great, of course, but I'm really excited about hanging with my girls!
There is always laughter and debauchery!
Not to mention we'll be in BOSTON!!!
I suppose Boston is kind of like the Blockhead Mecca? *giggle*
Anyway, enough of this noise, time to go get some FOOOOOOOD!

NKOTB Year in Review 09 Part 1

I figure it's been such a crazy year in regards to concerts, meeting Sistahs and meeting the boys, I should probably put it down whilst I remember it.
I'm going to do it in stages, probably a blog per concert.
Possibly more...depending on how verbose I feel like getting. I have some good stories.
Concert 1:
Manchester, New Hampshire. March 31st.
I drove up to my friend Jill's house just outside of Keene, NH. After giving her cutie daughter a quick squeeze, we hopped in her car, destination: Manchester!
A brief aside - Jill and I have been friends since 1990. We met at summer camp. We are about as different as two people could be, yet it doesn't matter. A mutual love of NKOTB is one of the things that brought us together in the first place.
Jill, being a good sport, if not as crazed a fan as I, agreed to do a little "bus stalking" with me. The closer we got to the arena, the more nervous I felt. Was this going to be the day I finally met a New Kid (hope leaning towards Donnie of course!)?
Well, there weren't many people stalking the busses, because the situation was not ideal. The area was gated and you couldn't see anything. We wandered over to the opposite side to see if we could get a better view. We were rewarded with a great view of all of the busses! After a few minutes, Jill said "Hey, isn't that Jon?" and pointed. Low and behold, it was Jon Knight! In his slippers, having a cigarette. We didn't call or wave to him, just quietly observed.
Shortly thereafter, we were ousted by security. We weren't allowed to stand there because it was part of the "secure" parking area. We were told to go back to the other side with "the rest of the herd." Nice. Very nice.
After a few chilly hours with no joy, a car pulled up the one-way street in the wrong direction and pulled into the gate. I gave it only a cursory glance, but apparently that was Donnie arriving JUST in time for the Meet & Greet.
*sigh*
So Jill and I went to dinner. :D
After dinner we made our way to our seats on the floor. Coincidence had it that my friend from "The Island", Eliz, was seated a mere four rows ahead of Jill and I. I heard my name cried out, looked over to see Eliz waving frantically at me with a huge smile. We ran towards each other (cue Chariots of Fire...) and HUGGED like we'd known each other our whole lives. She is adorable and the biggest sweetheart!
The concert was amazing (DUH!) and I enjoyed every minute of it! (Well, except for the minute by the B stage where the bitch behind me decided that just MY sign was blocking her view and she ripped it in half trying to pry it from my fingers. *sigh* Oh well.)
Some girls had made a crap-ton of stars with the words "Thank You" on them and handed them out with the instruction to hold them aloft when "I'll Be Loving You Forever" was played. I bet it looked really neat from the stage! I do believe Jordan said something along the line of "Now that's what I'M talking about!" in response.
During "Hangin' Tough" I decided to go over to Eliz so we could "put your hands up, put your damn hands up" together. She slung an arm around my shoulder and we swayed together. For me that was a special moment. She was the first of my online friends that I was seeing in the flesh, and it was very special. I felt a little bad ditching Jill, but I'm sure she understood. (Though when I went back to my seat, she was industriously dumping double handfuls of the green, white and silver confetti into my bag...ha!)
Though the concert had it's negative points (bitchy b-stage girl, being short with Amazon-sized woman in front of me, Jill feeling slightly ill for a bit) the concert was a lot of fun!

I guess I'll give this a shot.

Well. Here it is. I've finally caved and started a blog.
I am warning you all, this will be random and probably read like a de-railed train of thought.
A little bit about me:
My name is Codie. I'm 31 years old. I am a personal assistant/administrative assistant and most of the time I love my job. Currently I'm living with my parents and grandmother because Connecticut is a HELL of an expensive state. If you're a single person (meaning single income) it's damn near impossible to be able to afford your own place. I think a recent study found that unless you make $60,000 a year, you most likely can't afford to RENT a 2 bedroom apartment in the local area. Now if that isn't some messed up shit, I don't know what is! I don't make that much, but I don't make minimum wage either and I STILL can't afford an apartment. Even now that my car is paid off I can't. The apartment I was living in up until this past summer was $1300/month plus ALL utilities.
When I lived in Florida a few years ago I had a two bedroom apartment with a lanai (screened-in porch for the layman) for $625 a month. And we were one mile from the beach. They say the cost of living down there is proportionate to the wages. I disagree. I transferred within Ritz Camera when I moved down there and they told me that they were going to have to cut my wages due to the area. They ended up cutting me by $0.75/hour. Big freaking deal.
I don't understand why it is so expensive around here. I mean, yeah, it's beautiful, but no.
A mile from the beach in FL - $625.
Within view (and auditory range) of the interstate in CT - $1300.
Error. Error. Does not compute...
Anyway, before I got on that tangent I was telling you about myself.
I have a cat named Oliver that I love to death! He's one of my favorite companions.
I am a big fan of tatoos and New Kids on the Block, but separately. I respect the girls (and guys) that go out and get the guy's signatures and/or likenesses inked on them, but that will not be my choice.
I'm a driver, which is one reason I'm a terrible passenger. I've come to realize in the past couple of years that I have some serious control issues. I like to be in control of most things, therefore, I don't drink much, I HATE getting lost and I'm not much of a fan of flying (though I do it a few times a year).
Well, I know this leaves off abruptly, but I still feel it's a good start.
I hope you enjoy.
Please feel free to comment!
